L-citrulline, natural caffeine and B vitamins. It also contains 200 mg of CitraPeak®, the first 100 % soluble form of hesperidin. Currently available in the US, the clinically supported pre-workout ingredient will soon be launched in Europe.
- Good Guts Lemon Ginger Tea – a refreshing drink for digestive health support. Prinova research has identified digestive/gut health as a megatrend2 and consumers’ primary health concern.4 The concept includes Aquamin®, a marine mineral complex and prebiotic for which Prinova recently acquired exclusive distribution rights in the DACH region. In human studies, Aquamin® has shown potential for aiding gastrointestinal tract health.
- Young at heart – In Prinova’s recent market research, healthy ageing emerged as a key concern, with over half (52 %) of consumers saying it significantly affected their choices of food or nutrition products. Specially formulated to meet this need, this red fruit-based beverage concept contains ingredients such as saberry, vitamins A and C, and magnesium.

The demand for low- and no-alcohol drinks is on the rise as consumers increasingly seek healthier alternatives and choose sobriety to better enjoy their social moments. The increase in demand for these beverages during the Christmas season is particularly noteworthy, as it highlights the growing acceptance in a time when drinking is considered part of culture. Aligning with these new developments, a survey showed that 45 % of consumers sometimes or regularly drink low or no-alcohol beverages*. As such, the alcohol avoidance trend is expected to continue in the UK during the festive season, according to GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company.
According to GlobalData, the “alcohol avoidance trend” is expected to drive the UK non-alcoholic beverage market over a £500 million category in 2024, representing a double-digit growth from the previous year. The no- and low-alcohol beer market in the UK is projected to grow by 15 %.
George Shaw, Beverage Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “The moderation movement has led to the creation of alcohol-free alternatives and increased competition in the soft beverage market. In the UK, Almave Bianco, introduced by Lewis Hamilton’s Almave, represents a significant step in the non-alcoholic spirits market of growing demand for high-quality non-alcoholic beverages that mimic traditional spirits.
“The association with Lewis Hamilton brings aspirational branding and credibility, resonating with fans of the sport and lifestyle. This targets health-conscious consumers and those embracing the sober-curious movement, especially Gen Z and Millennials seeking alcohol-free alternatives for social occasions.”
Cornish craft brewer Firebrand introduced Little Wave, its first non-alcoholic lager, designed to deliver a smooth, clean profile while maintaining the quality and craft part of its traditional offerings. This appeals to consumers seeking alternatives for social drinking while reducing their alcohol intake, aligning with the mindful drinking trend.
Shaw adds: “According to GlobalData Q3 UK Consumer Survey*, it is evident that the demand for low and no-alcohol drinks is prominent. This indicates a significant shift in consumer preferences towards healthier options. The change is likely driven by a combination of factors, including health consciousness, the desire for more inclusive social experiences, and the availability of high-quality options in the market.”
Tesco has also reported strong performance in the no- and low-alcohol beers segment, with a 20 % year-on-year increase in sales of those drinks in multi-pack sizes and a 15 % surge in demand during the four weeks leading up to Christmas.
According to the GlobalData Q3 UK Consumer Survey, 77 % of UK consumers consider how a product or service impacts their health and well-being to be of somewhat, often, or always influence. By incorporating this insight into their marketing strategies and product development, alcohol brands can better position themselves to meet the evolving demands of consumers and capitalize on the growing market for low and no-alcohol drinks.
Shaw concludes: “The rise in demand for low and no-alcohol drinks is a significant trend that alcohol brands cannot ignore. With consumers increasingly opting for healthier alternatives and prioritizing their health and wellbeing, it is crucial for brands to adapt and provide options that cater to these changing preferences.”

Citrus flavours are beloved for their refreshing zest, versatility, and ability to invigorate the senses. Consumers are drawn to them not only for their familiar taste but also for their perceived health benefits, with rising demand for natural citrus flavours driven by the clean-label trend.
Orange continues to be one of the most widely consumed citrus flavours in the world, yet despite its popularity, the global orange oil market is facing significant supply challenges due to factors such as crop shortages, poor fruit quality, and climate-related disruptions.
As demand for natural products continues to grow, driven by widespread use in food and beverages, cosmetics, and cleaning products, orange oil prices are expected to increase over the next 3-5 years.
In response these challenges, Flavorchem, a global flavour and ingredient supplier, developed taste mod™ orange, an innovative line of orange oil replacers, offering the zesty taste of citrus at a more affordable price.
“Our sweet orange oil replacers have been applied in easy-to-use flavour forms specifically designed for beverages,” says Niki Hernandez, Senior Manager Flavour Development. “Available in extract, emulsion, and spray dry forms, it comes in both TYPE and WONF versions and meets specific regulatory requirements.”
Flavorchem’s expertly crafted sweet orange oil replacers offer the bright, refreshing flavours your products require, while ensuring consistency, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability that today’s market demands. Taste mod™ orange delivers an authentic, true-to-fruit Valencia Orange flavour, labeled as “natural flavour” and ideal for clean-label products. Perfect for a wide range of beverage applications, it provides a reliable, high-quality alternative to traditional orange oils.
A new era of conscious consumption is creating a shift toward more sustainable ingredients and eye-catching colour palettes influenced by the natural world, according to GNT.
GNT, which supplies plant-based EXBERRY® colours, has identified “Regeneration Rising” as a key trend in the food and drink sector. The company’s analysis explores the growing global appreciation for the natural world and desire to protect the planet. This mindset is now intensifying the focus on the origins of raw materials and sustainable production.
The Regeneration Rising trend is also inspiring new colour palettes as brands seek to convey instinctive messages about how their products are created. The use of visually impactful colours that can be found growing on land and in the sea helps manufacturers to showcase products’ eco-credentials and build emotional connections with consumers.
GNT has identified three new colour directions in line with the trend. “Elevated Earth” involves earthy shades from red-browns and warm oranges to textured purples and inky teals, elevating products with an organic but premium look and feel. “Nature Lab” is about pushing the boundaries of what is considered natural and features a kaleidoscopic spectrum of green, pink, red, yellow, orange, and blue. Finally, “Wholesome Nostalgia” features yellows, greens, blues, peaches, and pinks that range from velvet-like to milky, translucent, muted, and dreamlike.
Dieuwertje Raaijmakers, Marketing Communications Specialist at GNT Group, said: “Consumers of all ages are developing a much stronger interest in sustainability and rebuilding their relationships with the natural world. To appeal to these shoppers, food and beverage companies have to showcase their commitment to the planet. Colour can play an important role in telling that story, helping brands create appealing products that send out strong visual signals about how they’re produced.”
GNT has set out an ambition to lead the food colouring industry on sustainability. The company creates its EXBERRY® colours from fruits, vegetables, and plants and has set out a series of ambitious targets to optimise its environmental and social impacts at every stage of the value chain.
Following the successful launch of Robinsons Benefit Drops last year, the UK’s number one squash brand1 is releasing a full benefits-led range of wellness-focused premium squash, named Robinsons with Benefits. The range features three flavours in a 750 ml format, with each containing a different functional benefit through added vitamins and no added sugar, while still retaining that great Robinsons taste. The range is rolling out in the grocery channel now, and available to the convenience channel in June. Almost two-thirds of shoppers say they are interested in beverages with a broad range of functional, better-for-you benefits2, and the new range will provide a convenient and tasty solution to meet shoppers’ needs for tastier, healthier drinks at home.
The new Robinsons with Benefits range consists of:
- Robinsons Vitality Peach, Mango & Passion Fruit, boosted with vitamins B3 and D which helps to reduce tiredness and fatigue.
- Robinsons Immunity Orange & Guava flavoured, boosted with vitamins C & D to support the immune system.
- Robinsons Boost Raspberry, Strawberry & Acai, boosted with vitamin B6 to help recharge consumers’ batteries.
Ben Parker, Retail Commercial Director at Britvic said: “At a time when over half of consumers have revealed that they want to see healthier soft drinks in retailers’ ranges3, it’s the perfect time for us to expand the Robinsons range further to tap into this growing demand. The latest addition to our popular portfolio will build on the success of last year’s launch of Robinsons Benefit Drops, and aims to make it even easier for young people to enjoy benefit-led squash wherever they may be, at home or on the go.
“This launch follows our recent rebrand of the entire Robinsons range, and aims to offer consumers another premium squash for different occasions, sitting alongside our premium Fruit Creations range. The expansion also aims to help consumers make tastier, healthier choices in line with our long-term Healthier People strategy.
Functional benefits are important to almost three quarters of consumers4, and 68 % of shoppers prefer to get their vitamins from their diet, rather than health supplements5. The rollout of Robinsons with Benefits aims to meet this demand, as well as ensuring that customers have a healthier squash option that still tastes great.
The full Robinsons with Benefits range is available in the grocery channel now, and will be rolling out across the convenience channel from June, and will be supported by in-store and online activations throughout the summer, as well as form part of Robinsons’ Get Thirsty marketing campaign.

The increasing trend of consuming organic food products along with healthy eating habits, especially among the young generation, is driving the demand for smoothies. According to the latest data provided by Fact.MR, a market research and competitive intelligence provider, the global smoothies market is estimated to reach a value of USD 52.5 billion by the end of 2033, expanding at a CAGR of 6.8 % during the forecast period (2023 to 2033).
Smoothies refer to thick beverages that are made by blending assorted vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients such as sweeteners, ice cubes, yogurt, seeds, milk, and herbal and nutritional supplements. They are rich in nutrients, including fibers and vitamins, and are easy to prepare and store for consumption. More people nowadays are also including green leafy vegetables such as lettuce, collard greens, spinach, and kale due to the increasing trend of green smoothies. These green smoothies are consumed to improve digestion, boost immunity, and minimise unhealthy food cravings.
Nutritional deficiencies and malnourishment have been affecting a large part of the population across several countries. However, over the years, due to improving economic conditions, these issues have been largely replaced with chronic diseases such as epilepsy and heart attacks, diabetes, obesity, strokes, and arthritis, especially in developed nations.
- According to CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), chronic diseases are one of the prominent health problems in the United States.
More people are becoming health conscious and are adopting healthier lifestyles by making alterations to their everyday diets. There has been a remarkable shift from carbohydrate-laden food products to healthy protein-enriched meals and snacks, in terms of demand. Furthermore, functional foods and beverages such as smoothies are also consumed by many people to meet their routine nutritional requirements.
Long working hours and hectic lifestyles are stimulating the demand for on-the-go-meal options, which, in turn, is strengthening the growth opportunities for market players. Key manufacturers are focusing on new product launches and strategic initiatives to drive market growth over the coming years.
Vegetables and fruits are used as major raw ingredients in the production of smoothies. Fluctuations in the prices of raw materials due to climatic changes can directly impact the cost of the final product. This is expected to restrain market growth to some extent.
Key Takeaways from Market Study
- The global smoothies market is anticipated to reach a value of USD 52.5 billion by the end of 2033.
- Demand for smoothies is forecasted to increase at a CAGR of 6.8 % during the forecast period from 2023 to 2033.
- The global market for smoothies is valued at USD 27.2 billion in 2023.

Usage occasions for fruit juice are changing, with consumers increasingly viewing it as a permissible indulgence, and looking for new experiences. They are also seeking out products with additional wellness benefits, a need that micronutrient-rich juices are able to meet, particularly if fortified with other healthy ingredients. Mintel has highlighted functional benefits as a possible key to growth in the juice and juice drinks market.1
Meanwhile, in an increasingly stressful world, consumers are turning to natural ingredients for self-care, with the global botanical-infused drinks market predicted to grow at a CAGR of 6.4% over the next ten years.2 By formulating with botanicals, juice manufacturers can meet multiple needs, offering benefits such as energy and stress reduction, as well as novel flavors.

At Natural Products Expo West, the Washington State-based company will highlight its capabilities to blend juices with botanicals, as well as other ingredients. Beverage concepts on show at the company’s booth (#N1447) will include:
- An immunity drink combining apple, raspberry, cherry and blueberry juices with turmeric, ginger, acai and vanilla extracts
- A blend of apple and beetroot juice with red and black pepper

Wayne Lutomski, President of FruitSmart, said: “The positioning of fruit juices has undergone a fascinating journey. They were once seen as the ultimate health product, before concerns about sugar content and ultra-processing removed a little shine from the halo. In the new phase of their evolution, we’re going to see more products that combine a novel experience with sought-after wellness benefits. Blending juices with botanicals is a great way to meet this need and FruitSmart is the ideal partner to help you do it. We have the expertise and the resources to combine juices with botanicals, juices with flavors, juices with vegetable powders, and juices with other juices.”

A bold new era of “Healthy Hedonism” is inspiring a radical rethink of what is possible with natural colours, according to trend analysis by GNT.
GNT, the global supplier of plant-based EXBERRY® colours, explored how today’s consumers see colour in the world of food and drink and beyond. The research revealed a powerful new trend shaped by Generation Z’s desire to embrace joy and creativity while staying true to core values.
The new generation of consumers is radical, diverse, and digitally native – and it is rapidly changing global attitudes toward food and drink. Gen Z shoppers are committed to holistic wellness and are actively promoting environmental and social agendas through their purchases. At the same time, their devotion to social media means visual impact is more important than ever before.
This consumer behavior can be described as Healthy Hedonism. This ethos is now set to spark a global surge in demand for eye-catching products that are good for people and planet. From seductive healthy snacks to kaleidoscopic TikTok treats, the trend showcases a lifestyle that is playful, considered, and nourishing.
GNT’s analysis found that it is already generating new directions in natural colour. For example, cute soft-play pastel shades are being used to redefine what “healthy and sustainable” looks like. Psychedelic colour schemes now work in harmony with mind-boosting ingredients to tap into new-age wellbeing. Bright, clashing colour combinations can also enable brands to create virtuous products that satisfy the desire for creativity and self-expression.
Maartje Hendrickx, Market Development Manager at GNT Group, said: “Healthy Hedonism resonates with the new generation of conscious consumers who are determined to rewrite the rules. To tap into the trend, brands need to celebrate disruption and adopt a new visual language for products that are both healthy and environmentally sound. Earthy colours are no longer a necessity – it’s time to be bold, be creative, and make people smile.”
Available in shades spanning the full spectrum, EXBERRY® colours are plant-based concentrates created from non-GMO fruit, vegetables, and plants using traditional physical processing methods. GNT has also set out a commitment to become the leader in its field on sustainability by 2030.

The cost of plastics, aluminium, paper and liquids materials used in flexible packaging reached new, record levels in the first quarter of 2022, maintaining the strong upward surge in prices seen throughout 2021, according to Flexible Packaging Europe (FPE). Continued pressure from soaring energy costs, as well as other external factors, means the dramatic increases seen in the last half of 2021 have now been exceeded.
In particular the cost of 20micron BOPP film shot up 45 % during January to March 2022 and has now doubled in price since the first quarter of 2021. Thin aluminium converter foil also jumped by 67 % in the same three months and is now 75 % higher than the end of 2020. Elsewhere, 12micron PET added 47 % in the same period to stand 50 % higher than just over a year ago, while 15m micron BOPA film added 33 %, marking a 44 % increase in 15 months.
LDPE and HDPE prices are still well above the price levels seen at the end of 2020, being 75 % and 54 % more. Both are still well above the price levels seen at the end of 2020, being 75 % and 50+ % more. All figures have been complied by Wood Mackenzie and ICIS.
Commenting on the figures, David Buckby, Senior Analyst at Wood Mackenzie said, “Substrate prices across the board continued to rise sharply in Q1, driven primarily, in many cases, by energy surcharges. Limited availability of materials also propped up prices, made worse by ongoing global logistics challenges. The high cost and unpredictability of offshore sourcing means that European producers were generally busy, with some fully booked and not accepting new orders.”
“Lead times for aluminium foil in Q1 were as long as five months compared to two months previously. For paper, they were often two to three months, up from four to six weeks. The extent of price increases from supplier to supplier depended heavily on the scope of previous hikes – timings do vary. Some producers which pushed through substantial energy surcharges and price rises in Q4 pushed for only moderate hikes or even rollovers in Q1,” he added.
“Russia’s invasion of Ukraine added further uncertainty to an already highly clouded outlook,” Buckby believes.
FPE sees continued strong demand for all flexible materials as growth indices for the markets its members serve all remain positive. However there has been a general slowdown in the pace of growth, which may take some pressure off already stretched supply shortages of raw materials and ancillary products, such as adhesives and inks. Logistics and utilities pricing increases had and will continue to have a large effect on conversion costs to flexibles packaging converters. After a brief pause oil prices are now increasing again, so this may weigh on any respite from continued flexible material price hikes.
Guido Aufdemkamp, FPE’s Executive Director thinks it is difficult to forecast the direction of the market in current circumstances. “Growth in demand in Europe for flexible packaging is almost certain. While the price increases could have an impact on the levels of demand this is unlikely as non-flexible packaging applications are faced with higher absolute increases per pack as more material is used. Add the continuing supply chain disruption and major energy issues to the equation and the outlook is uncertain. The conflict in Ukraine and the economic consequences of it across Europe were not something we could predict or anticipate. However flexible packaging producers have proved resilient in the past, most recently with the pandemic, so we are confident the sector will continue to be able to meet demand for its products.”
Avoidance of alcohol is becoming the norm for a growing minority of consumers around the world. While this trend is seen across all age groups, it is most apparent in Generation Z, with as many as a third of consumers aged 18 – 25 now saying that they never consume alcohol.
This trend is creating an entirely new sub-category within the alcoholic drinks market. Younger consumers appear reluctant to turn their backs on either the taste or sophistication of beer, wine and spirits in favour of traditional soft drinks. As a result, alcohol-free choices are flooding the shelves.
According to a new report from Innova Market Insights, four percent of all the beers and spirits launched globally in 2021 contained no alcohol at all, rising to seven percent among flavoured alcoholic beverages (FABs). Launch numbers in each of these areas have grown at CAGRs of 20 – 40 % over the past five years.
Alcohol removal is also becoming far more mainstream. “The big guns are all invested in the alcohol-free movement,” reports Lu Ann Williams, Global Insights Director at Innova Market Insights. “Brands such as Guinness 0.0 alcohol free stout and Freixenet 0.0 sparkling rosé wine offer both familiarity and novelty to young, brand-conscious drinkers.”
It is not all about a ‘no alcohol’ positioning, however, as launches of low-alcohol drinks such as hard seltzers are growing twice as fast. The soft drinks giants have even been exploring this area in partnership with alcohol companies. For example, Coca-Cola (with Molson Coors) already offers the Topo Chico hard seltzers brand, while PepsiCo (with the Boston Beer Co) is ready to roll out Hard Mtn Dew in early 2022. PepsiCo has also applied for a trademark that suggests an alcoholic version of Rockstar could be on the cards.
Whether it is in alcohol reduction or its complete removal, the industry is recognizing that alcohol-shy youngsters are the target audience of tomorrow. Adjusting to their needs is a major focus for right now.
Sales revenues of organic foods in Europe continue to rise. In addition to traditional drivers like the dry foods category, which includes cereals, trend categories like protein bars and shakes are also growing. “The growing demand for organic products is becoming more and more obvious in health and fitness-related categories,” reports Marc van Essen, Sales Director at SternLife. “So we offer a large part of our range in organic versions as well. From vegan protein bars and protein shakes to breakfast and fitness shakes to smoothie powders, we provide high-quality functional food made with organically grown raw materials, with a difference you can taste.”
SternLife is one of the leading suppliers of functional lifestyle and sports nutrition products. From an extensive range of organic raw materials, the company also develops exclusive organic product lines for major brands. The raw materials can be from animal or plant sources as desired. For example, protein sources can be pea, rice, hemp, sunflower and pumpkin, or milk and whey. “Continuous consumer and market research is fundamental to the successful development of our product concepts. We have a very good knowledge of which organic raw materials are in demand at any given time,” notes SternLife Product Manager Lüder Holsten, adding, “That means we can always implement the latest product trends for our customers.” The proper combination of raw materials is at least as important in order to achieve high bioavailability and thus high product functionality. SternLife developers and technologists examine these aspects very carefully in applications testing.
With regard to the organic market, functional bars are of special interest. Few organic offerings exist, and demand is rising rapidly. SternLife has therefore developed a wide selection of exciting concepts for the entire range of bars, from Pure to Deluxe. Whether chocolate coated or uncoated, with sprinkled bits or filling, whether vegan or conventional, SternLife has many possibilities for individual product lines with protein content up to 30 % (vegan) or more (conventional).
In the powder category, customers can have SternLife create custom organic shakes for different target groups and occasions, working from a wide portfolio of raw materials. Powders can be conventional or vegan; the vegan powders can contain up to 60 % protein while meeting all sensory requirements. In additional to raw materials from organic agriculture, SternLife naturally also offers UTZ and RSPO-certified raw materials, combined individually to customer order.
As manufacturers in Asia-Pacific (APAC) are embarking on a growing trend of adding liquid nitrogen to beverages to create a unique consumption experience for consumers, especially millennials, who are open to experimenting with new and innovative offerings.
Shagun Sachdeva, Consumer Insights Analyst at GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company, offers her views on the potential opportunities in the nitrogen infused food and beverages (F&B) sector:
“Curiosity has emerged as the key driver of appetite for nitrogen-infused beverages, further fed by higher exposure to social media in APAC. Millennials, who are tech-savvy and experimental, appreciate products which deliver an element of surprise. This willingness and desire to experiment creates opportunities for brands to ‘premiumize’ by offering unusual and innovative products, which consumers are often ready to pay a premium price for.
“The use of liquid nitrogen in beverages has not only augmented the ability of beverage-makers to amaze and inspire consumers but also opened up revenue generating possibilities for foodservice outlets such as coffee shops and cafes. Coffee brewers are replacing dairy ingredients with nitrogen gas as it mimics the mouth feel that dairy ingredients can provide. Whereas, in ready-to-drink coffee category, nitrogen gas offers creamy taste without adding calories or animal-based ingredients, making products appropriate for consumers pursuing a vegan diet.
“For instance, companies such as Imbibe are using nitrogen to elevate the flavor profile of its beverages like tea, coffee and beers as consumers are getting intrigued by the velvety and luxurious texture that nitrogen infusions provide in beverages. In May 2018, the company collaborated with Ball Corporation to use its Widget Inside can technology in developing innovative nitrogen-infused beverages. In June 2018, Starbucks Thailand unveiled its first Asian four-tap draft nitro coffee system, which delivers Starbucks Cold Brew and nitrogen-infused Starbucks Cold Brew, tea and milk.
“Manufacturers are executing distribution and partnership agreements with local companies in APAC to address market demand for nitrogen-infused beverages in the region. However, nitrogenation is an expensive process and liquid nitrogen is a tricky ingredient to work with as unlike most food ingredients, it poses significant health risks if not handled with care and consumed carefully. In addition, the regulatory language of using liquid nitrogen in F&B sector is ambiguous and liquid nitrogen has run into issues in the beverage market in the past. Therefore, it is imperative for the makers of beverages infused with liquid nitrogen to find ways to prevent such outcomes with products that are safe and sustainable.”
SternLife offers a new range for ketogenic nutrition
In all discussions of a well-balanced diet and weight reduction, the buzzword has been “low-carb” for many years. But there are now other forms of nutrition, too, that advocate a diet with as little carbohydrate as possible. One example that is becoming more and more popular is ketogenic nutrition. This diet consists of 75 percent fat, 20 percent protein and only five percent carbohydrate. It brings about in changes in energy metabolism. Because of the reduced carbohydrates, there is no longer enough glucose available as a supply of energy. Consequently, the body forms more ketone bodies out of the fatty acids present, and these provide the energy necessary for the brain. During this ketogenic state – also known as ketosis – the body’s own fat deposits are broken down. That is why the keto diet helps with slimming.
In the USA, keto is already in third place among the nutritional trends. That is the conclusion drawn from the latest “What’s Trending in Nutrition” survey, in which some 2,000 dieticians were interviewed. Lifestyle products that support ketogenic nutrition therefore offer additional sales potential. For keto diets are becoming increasingly popular in the German market, too, and are being recommended by more and more dieticians. In this connection, MCT oils play an important role. According to scientific studies, these medium-chain fatty acids promote both weight loss and reduction of the body’s fat mass. In other words: MCT oils greatly help to ensure the success of a ketogenic diet. SternLife’s new keto products are also based on MCT derived from high-quality coconut oil.
Three attractive products are available that enable manufacturers of branded goods to make profitable use of the keto trend. Ketoproof Coffee and Ketoproof Matcha Latte, for example, promise a perfect start to the day. The dry beverage bases for blending with liquid contain 5g MCT and less than one gram of carbohydrate per portion, but they also contain a large proportion of dietary fibre. The caffeine derived from coffee or matcha powder gives the drinks their stimulating effect. They are therefore ideal for breakfast or for fighting that afternoon sleepiness. The new Keto Protein Shake with 9g MCT and less than one gram of sugar per portion completes the range. With its high percentage of valuable, quality protein and large amount of dietary fibre it provides a satisfying meal for fitness and figure conscious consumers. With the novel products from SternLife, suppliers of fitness and lifestyle products can extend their offer with a trendy range and benefit from the growing keto trend.
Shot-sized health-boosting juice launches take off
Consumers are increasingly interested in naturally-functional food and drinks. This increase in health consciousness, coupled with busy on-the-go lifestyles, has fuelled innovation around smart, nutrient-rich snacking solutions. Tapping into this trend, health-promoting juice shots provide a quick, natural boost of nutrition in small to-go bottles. Though still niche, the share of juice shots in total juice launches in Europe has increased sixfold over the past four years.
Nordic countries take a leading role in innovation
Nordic countries, led by Denmark, take a prominent role in juice shot launch activity in Europe. Of all juices described as shots/boosters launched between October 2015 and September 2017 in Europe, 39 % were launched in Denmark. Germany, Norway and Sweden follow with 13 % of launches each. Repeatedly referred to as “the healthiest countries in the world”, Nordic countries put a strong focus on wholesome, nutrient-rich and naturally functional diets.
Ginger dominates the scene, but probiotic-rich ingredients on the rise
Using concentrated doses of fruits, vegetables, plant extracts and herbs, juice shots are designed as a preventive measure to boost consumers’ overall wellbeing, but can also address specific health issues…
