Bucher Unipektin is acquiring 100 % of the Czech company Denwel, a supplier of specialised cold block equipment to breweries. With the acquisition, Bucher Unipektin – one of the world leading suppliers of beer filtration systems – further strengthens its beer processing capabilities and technologies.
Denwel spol. s r.o., a privately held Czech company founded in 1997, designs, manufactures and installs specialised engineered cold block equipment for breweries and generated net sales of EUR 7 million in 2020. The company is located in Prague with a manufacturing site in Havlickuv Brod.
Bucher Unipektin, a Swiss based business unit of Bucher Industries AG, is a globally leading manufacturer of systems and components for the juice industry and for the filtration of beer. The business unit is operating globally with production sites in Switzerland, Spain, Germany and China supported by a global distribution network and own sales and service organisations in Poland, Ukraine, Russia, New Zealand and Mexico.
With this acquisition, Bucher Unipektin is in the position to supply its brewery customers with entire cold block processing lines, complementing its high-tech beer filtration systems with Denwel’s water deaeration, blending, carbonation, nitrogenation, dosing, CIP and flash pasteurization systems.
All employees and the very dedicated management team, which are already well-known to Bucher Unipektin through a three-year cooperation, will remain in place and operate under the new name Bucher Denwel spol. s r.o. providing an enhanced global after-sales service to its customers.
Bucher Unipektin is acquiring 100 % of the German vacuum drying system supplier Merk Process GmbH. With the acquisition Bucher Unipektin further strengthens its vacuum and freeze drying capabilities.
Merk Process was founded in 1994 by Dieter Merk, is privately owned and located in Laufenburg (Germany). The company supplies vacuum drying systems for the food, pharmaceutical and chemical industries and generated net sales of EUR 4 million in 2020. Its expertise is based on many years of practical experience in plant construction combined with efficient, innovative engineering skills. With the transaction Mr. Merk found an attractive and sustainable succession solution not only for his customers but also for the employees of Merk Process.
Together with Merk Process, Bucher Unipektin is in the position to supply a broader range of innovative and sound drying technologies and to provide an enhanced customer service offering to the vacuum and freeze drying customers of the two companies on a global base.
Following the transaction, the drying activities of both companies will be concentrated at Merk Process’ site in Laufenburg (Germany). Dieter Merk will actively contribute and assist the combining of the two companies’ technologies and knowhow as a consultant in the next years.

Bucher Unipektin, a business unit of the Swiss based Bucher Industries AG within the division Bucher Specials, is acquiring 100 % of the Spanish citrus processing equipment supplier Luzzysa. With the acquisition Bucher Unipektin further strengthens its presence in the citrus juice industry.
Industria de Maquinaria Luzzisa, S.L was founded in 1975, is privately owned and operates under the brand “Luzzysa”. The company supplies processing equipment for the production of citrus juices. The administration and production of the company is located in El Puig (Valencia),
supported by a sales and after sales service network in the main citrus markets.
Bucher Unipektin is the world market leader for production equipment of apple, pear and berry juices and also supplies refinement systems and evaporators to the citrus industry. The business unit is operating globally with production sites in Switzerland and China, supported by a global agent network and own sales and service organisations in Poland, Ukraine, Russia, New Zealand and Mexico.
With this acquisition, Bucher Unipektin is in the position to supply its citrus juice customers with entire processing lines, complementing its refinement systems and evaporators with Luzzysa’s juice extractor EXZEL, the industry standard for juicing of citrus fruits.
The company will be operated by the existing management team out of its original location in El Puig under the new name Bucher Exzel, S.L.
