Pakistani – German Joint Venture For International Exhibitions In Pakistan

A podium set with honourable national and international speakers among the Chief Guest, Mr Martin Loetzer, Commercial Counsellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, a hundred representatives like government officials, foreign diplomats, chamber of commerce, along with high ranking dignitaries and eminent businessmen from Pakistan as well as journalists of the key media in Pakistan. Against this backdrop the trade show organizers Pegasus Consultancy from Pakistan and fairtrade Messe from Germany held a ceremony to announce their cooperation. The ceremony took place on 8th March 2012 in the Ballroom of the Sheraton Hotel in Karachi.

Beside the Chief Guest, Mr Martin Loetzer, Commercial Counsellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, the following guests of honour were seated on the podium: Mr Mian Abrar Ahmad, President of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Mr Saifuddin N. Zoomkawala, President of the Pakistan German Business Forum, Mr A.R. Daudpota, Deputy Trade Commissioner of Italian Trade Commission and Mr David Wang, Managing Director fairtrade China. Mr Aamer Khanzada, Managing Director of Pegasus Consultancy and Ms Monika Schaedel, Senior Project Manager with fairtrade were the official representatives of the organizers.

The ceremony was introduced with the following words of Mr Aasim Siddiqui, Chairman of Pegasus Consultancy: “Germany is the birth place of trade fairs and exhibitions which makes a substantial contribution to their national economy. We are very pleased to be embarking on this joint venture with our partner fairtrade. All in all 30 years of experience and the organization of more than 300 trade shows and conferences of Pegasus and fairtrade will bring about new opportunities for the industry to establish and strengthen business ties with local and international business community.”

Mr Aamer Khanzada, Ms Monika Schaedel and Mr Dominik Rzepka, Head of Marketing and PR with fairtrade presented the portfolios of their companies respectively. Monika Schaedel highlights, that Pegasus is the perfect local partner to work together with in Pakistan. Further Schaedel says that fairtrade’s value add is to enlarge the international participation of the trade shows due to their powerful network of agencies and partnerships worldwide.

At this occasion, Mr Mian Abrar Ahmed, President of KCCI reiterated the commitment of the chamber to support and develop industrial base in Pakistan, and appreciated the efforts of exhibitions and tradeshow organizers in establishing business network with the foreign markets. Stating the importance of bilateral trade and commerce between Pakistan and EU, Abrar said KCCI would like to join hands with Pegasus and fairtrade to promote exports of Pakistan in European countries and regional markets.

In 2012 the Pakistani – German joint venture includes four international exhibitions in the following industry sectors: plastics and packaging, food and beverages and food and beverage technologies as well as conventional and renewable energies. To create valuable synergies for exhibitors and trade visitors alike, Plasti & Pack Pakistan will take place concurrently with iftech food + bev tec Pakistan and food + hospitality Pakistan. These three shows will be held form 04 – 06 September 2012 at the Karachi Expo Center. One week later, from 11 – 13 September energy efficient, the 1st International Trade Fair on Renewable and Conventional Energy, Energy Efficiency, Electrical Engineering, Lighting and Automation will be also held in Karachi.
